Sleep Advice

Sleep Advice

Newborns (0–3 months) typically sleep 14–17 hours a day, though in short intervals of 2–4 hours. By 4–6 months, many infants begin sleeping for longer stretches at night and may take 2–3 daytime naps. From 6–12 months, most babies sleep a total of 12–16 hours daily, including naps, and may start sleeping through the night. To support healthy sleep habits, it’s important to create a calm and consistent sleep environment—dim lighting, minimal noise, and no bright light exposure during bedtime. Parents are encouraged to discuss age-appropriate sleep expectations with their pediatrician during OPD visits. One of the goals by 6–9 months of age is to help your child sleep through the night without waking, and professional guidance can help ensure this milestone is achieved smoothly.
